Decorate With Old Game Boards

How cute is this idea?!

Put those old game boards to good use and add a new fun look to a room. A game room or kids room would look fabulous with old game boards on the wall.

Game rooms often get forgotten when we decorate. You do not want to spend a lot of money on them so this would be a cheap decorating idea that would still look great.

If your families are like ours you will have some laying around the house somewhere. Over the years game pieces get lost and game boxes get broken. Every time we move we still bring partial games with us. I always figured that the missing pieces would show up somewhere and I hate wasting things. Now we have tons of partial games in the closet and I do not want to throw them away.

All that is needed is some velcro strips. You can attach the velcro strips to the wall and the back of the game boards and your decorating is done. How simple is that? I would recommend tracing them on the wall with pencil first to see how it will look first. Then you can have a great looking arrangement.

Wine Glass Charms

So Christmas is getting closer everyday and you are trying to think of some last minute cheap gifts and decorating ideas. Wine glass charms are a cheap and easy craft. They are also a great homemade gift, just be sure to make some for yourself too. They will dress up any gathering and add a bit more sparkle. They will also keep those annoying guests from drinking out of your glass.

You always see so many beautiful wine glass charms so why not make them yourself. Then they are exactly what you want. You can make them in many styles and colors to fit who you are. So here are some instructions.

Your first option is to use ear wire beading hoops. If you choose this option you just need to buy some ear wire beading hoops and beads. Simply arrange your beads the way you want them and then use a jewelry pliers to bend up the end. The end then fits into the hole to close the wine glass charm.

Your second option is to use ring sized memory wire. If you choose this option you just follow our instructions for a memory wire bracelet but you use the smaller ring size wire and make a tiny version. The wine glass charms made this way just get wrapped around the stem of the wine glass just like the bracelets are worn.

Everything you need for both options can be found at craft stores. If you want to add charms make sure you also pick up some jump rings for them to hang from so the charms can dangle.

Fun Paints For Kid's Rooms

Have you seen this stuff yet? Chalk Board Paint has been around for awhile, but Magnetic Paint and Dry Erase Paint! Why could they not have all these cool things when my kids were little? We are still thinking about doing the magnetic paint. The girls tend to keep my fridge covered in their things. When they found out that I was going to write about these paints today they went nuts. They want to have their own area that is magnetic. Then they can hang up all kinds of things of their own and there will be no problems when they want to change what they have up.

When I was young I would put thumb tacks into the walls and use that putty stuff to hang things. The putty always left grease marks on the things that were hanging up and on the walls. The thumb tacks would drive my mom nuts. Now that I am a mom I know all about not wanting holes in the walls.

These products are so neat!!! You can either make something and then paint it with any one of these paints or just paint a wall or door. How neat would it be if you painted a closet door with this stuff? Sliding closet doors tend to take up a large part of a room. That area can not be decorated normally. You are stuck with just closet doors to look at. What if you could take that and use that big space to be creative?

I have seen a little girl's room that had a chalk board painted right onto the wall and then a pretty border of flowers was stenciled around it. The magnetic paint can be painted on a wall and then painted over. Then no one would even know it was there. I just think these paints are incredible. What a great way to help your kids get creative and make their room their own. The best part is that they can change it anytime they decide to. You are no longer having to redecorate a whole room when they grow out of things like Barney or Dora.
