Every 71 seconds, someone is diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease. Alzheimer's is the 6th leading cause of death in the U.S. In your lifetime it is very likely that you or someone you know and love will get Alzheimer's Disease. I can only imagine how heartbreaking it has to be to experience the effects.
The Alzheimer's Memory Walk is the nation's largest event to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer care, support, and research. It also gives everyday people like you and me the opportunity to do something and make a difference. People of any age can help. More than 600 communities will have walks. Typically walks are 2-3 miles long. They are held on a weekend morning during the fall.
How can you help?
There is a real need for team captains. You can recruit a group of people from work. How about getting your family involved? You could also get a group of friends together. You will all have a fun and healthy walk together. On top of that you will be doing it for a great cause. If you are unable to start a team you can still sign up to join a team. Every person counts.
