Our Backyard "Camp Site"

Well this is the little "camp site" they set up on the side of the yard by the play house. In order for me to get it all in the picture I had to take it from far away so it is hard to see some of the details. On the little porch of the playhouse I planted some flower seeds in pots. Also that lump of brown to the right of the middle is actually the fire pit full of wood. I just noticed that our dog Padfoot snuck in the picture too. He is the black thing to the right of the fire pit. LOL

Friday night James came home early so we put up a tent in the back yard. The kids have been wanting to for awhile so they were really happy. We grilled some burgers and then watched tv together for awhile. Then the girls went out to the tent. They got together all the Nintendo DSs so they could all play games together. Got some flashlights and snacks and off they went.

James and I bet on how long they would stay outside. He believed that Neona would come in as soon as it got fully dark, Nicole would get mad at Noelle and come in an hour later, and Noelle would stay out all night just to prove to me that she could do it. I on the other hand thought that none of them would last more than an hour.

Noelle started calling me from her cell phone after about 30 minutes. I then turned the back porch light on for them. They called me about every 5 minutes until finally they admitted that they wanted to come inside but they were afraid to leave the tent alone. I ended up having to walk all the way to the tent before they would unzip it and come inside. They had made it about 1 hour. LOL

Today was the last Saturday soccer game so that took up our morning. Then James and Josh went to play golf for awhile. We took that time to collect more dead wood from in the trees in the back of the yard.

When James came home he brought with him some groceries so we started a bonfire and sat around roasting hot dogs, eating chips, and he even got them the glass bottles of rootbeer they like.

As we sat talking after we ate it started to sprinkle so we decided that roasting marshmallows would have to wait until tomorrow. We put all the chairs and things away and came in the house. The girls were upset so James grabbed the laptop and a DVD and told them that he would sleep out in the tent with them tonight.

That is where they are right now. It is supposed to thunder and lightening tonight and the trees on that end of the yard tend to drop branches so I do not think they will end up staying out there all night but they are loving being able to camp in their own back yard.

They keep asking why I will not sleep in the tent and I just tell them that it is because I have a bed. I do like sitting around the bonfire but I do not see anything fun about sleeping in a tent when I have a nice comfortable bed. Then I use the excuse that I have to stay in the house to make sure the animals do not destroy the house. LOL
