Our Garden
Well it is finally warm enough here in Wisconsin to plant a garden. We tried to do the whole plant the seeds in the basement first thing. We bought the nice 72 cell seed starter kit from Burpee. We bought tomato and broccoli seeds and got it all started ahead of time.
The kids got all excited about the plants popping up. Everything looked great... Then one day as I sat at my desk working on one of the sites I heard a huge crash. Thankfully the kids were at school at the time. I think they would have freaked out.
I found that one of the cats had knocked the whole thing on the floor. It was upside down and plants and dirt were everywhere. I quick cleaned it up trying to save all the plants. This happened another two times over the last month. It appears that no matter how much I tried to protect the plants the cat wanted the broccoli too much to give up. So now we are left with about 7 pathetic looking tomato plants that probably will not make it outside. LOL
The girls have really been looking forward to having a garden this year. We were not able to in Arizona. When the day finally came to get everything started on the garden they were more than thrilled. Of course as the days went on they got less thrilled. LOL
The first day James just tilled the garden and then it rained. The second day we put up the poles and chicken wire. We have stray cats from the barn next door that come in our yard so I figured we needed some kind of fence around the garden. We also planted pots of flowers on the second day. Finally on the third day we planted all the seeds in the garden.
I heard a lot of... "Can't we just stop?", "Do we really need all of these seeds?", and my favorite..."Why don't you just finish it mom? You do a better job." I was sooooo happy that it was all over. Now we just have to wait and see if anything comes up. LOL
